The goal of this program is to provide an affordable and effective means for homeschoolers to learn skiing and snowboarding. Learn a lifetime sport, and start looking forward to winter.
Program is designed for ages 5 to 18 and you are welcome to bring along family members. Come as often as you like. Dates available are March – 1, 6-7, 14-15, 21-22.

Call or email at least one week in advance to make a reservation. Include the date or dates you would like to come, how many skiers and snowboarders are in your group and if you plan on taking the beginner or intermediate lessons.
Lesson Times:
- 11:15 – Beginner Lessons – Will start on beginner terrain
- 12:30 – Intermediate lesson – Starts on intermediate terrain

Pricing Details
Lift tickets are good from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for day ticket or from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for twilight ticket. Ski and Board day or night for the same low price! Please register for the day ticket or the twilight ticket when you sign up. Lift no longer closes from 4:30 – 6:00 for grooming!
Cost is $30.00 per skier or boarder and includes: lift ticket, rental equipment (skies or snowboard if desired), including ski and snowboard boots and poles, and optional one hour group lesson for students 8 years or older (beginner level). If you have your own equipment and do not want to attend lessons, your cost will be $20.
Note: the helmet option is on a first-come-first-served basis. According to RidersChoice, they may run low on Friday so you should plant to arrive early if you must have helmet or bring your own. So, if you must have a helmet, please arrive early (non-Riderschoice group rate for all of this would be from $90 – $100) If you have your own equipment and don’t want a lesson the price is $20.00
Registration
In order to be considered part of the Riderschoice group deal, you must contact Glenna Toney. She is the coordinator. EMAIL GLENNA HERE and include the following information with your reservations: Put the Day & Date in the Subject Line. In your email include name of skiers/boarders, rental information needs, does the participant need a lesson and what type (ski or board and age), does the participant want to reserve a hot lunch and leave the phone number where your group can be reached on your chosen ski day.
Participant’s names will be written down and checked off upon arrival. Bring your current proof of homeschooling.
The Riderschoice offer is only open to homeschool families (immediate families) who have students aged 19 and younger who have not yet graduated high school. Homeschool graduates and alumni must come with a legal and current homeschool family to participate with Riderschoice.

Cataloochee Ski Area – Homeschool Ski Days
Homeschool Days at Cataloochee will begin January 9 and continue every Tuesday through the end of the season. The Homeschool special rate is only available for day skiing from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Homeschoolers get special rates on lift tickets, lessons and rentals when presenting their Homeschool credentials at the Ticket Center on the lower level of the lodge.

Wolf Ridge Ski Resort
Home Schoolers can ski Tuesday through Thursday for just $20 for a full day lift ticket or $11 for a half day lift ticket. Ski Rental is $9 and Snowboard Rental is $15.
